"BLACK MEETS IRIDESCENCE"

.

The monogram collection features an iridescent strip on an otherwise monochromatic series of products, giving it a touch of femininity, serving as an allegory for equality amongst all genders.

.

The strip also changes colour with different viewing angles or lighting, a reflection of human personality and adaptability: per say women are usually regarded as the more “feminine” sex, but modern day society has grown to accept many female entrepreneurs, who need to be more independent and resilient, harnessing their inner “masculinity” in a world filled with vestiges of the close-minded past; a man’s world.

BEHIND THE MONOGRAM

.

We used the interlocking CN symbol repeatedly across the monogram collection. The structural-like silhouette of the abbreviation is inspired by copper pipes which is also a huge part of Christy’s childhood and family history where she grew up helping her father where copper pipes were an integral part of his air conditioning business.

.

This print forms a lattice structure which represents continuous improvement and strive of the women carrying the CN emblem—the courage to pursue dreams and conquer.

COLOUR SCHEME

.

The monogram collection also utilises the colours of the Classics: Black. This represents absolute power and timelessness, while also symbolically referencing the strength, elegance, and sophistication of nostalgic memoirs (Masterpieces). We want people wearing these products to feel powerful, urbane; to feel debonair of sorts. It is a classic colour contrasted with modern design items, ready for everyday use.

.

This “power” we translated through these designs are also symbolic of the collaboration with Starbucks—a sort of people’s authority over daily routines to feel awake (coffee) and ever so slightly unique (fashion), while also serving as the Malaysian Dream of global presence (collaboration/Malaysia Boleh).
