I started Christy Ng with a goal of creating beautiful, high quality shoes & bags which women like you I & would love and enjoy. Coming from a poor family, growing up meant working on the weekends as a waitress in a restaurant. Because I was standing and walking for hours in poorly made uncomfortable shoes, the friction on the sole of my feet against the cheap polyurethane lining caused a huge callus growth at the ball of my feet.

As I had to work almost every night , I didn’t get it checked and tolerated the pain. The callus grew into a huge 50-cent-sized corn which made it very painful for me to work. I had it surgically removed and the doctor told me to stop wearing poorly made shoes as it was the root cause of the corn growth at the ball of my feet.

At 17 years old, the quest of searching for a well-made, comfortable pair of shoes begun. But sadly, good comfortable shoes were mostly made of leather and they are expensive. It wasn’t something I could afford at that time.

I felt lousy. I felt hopeless but I guess that became my “ A-Ha” moment where since then, I made it my lifetime’s work and mission to create shoes so beautiful, comfortable and affordable which every single woman out there will love and enjoy.

The shoes we create should be so comfortable and affordable that the 17 year old me would be able to afford. The shoes we create must mimic and be on par as the shoes made from genuine leather. Leather shoes are expensive, but our shoes won't be. We make our shoes with vegan leather which is affordable, yet comes with the characteristics that are similar to leather in many ways.

It’s International women’s day and I am writing this to remind you that your greatest self has been waiting for your whole life; don’t make it wait any longer. There is nothing more powerful than a woman determined to rise.

If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring your own folding chair. Stand up for yourself & be courageous.

Follow your heart, even if it leads you to the silliest places. Believe in yourself, work hard, be persistent.

When I first started Christy Ng Shoes, I was often ridiculed.

Sometimes by friends, industry players...sometimes even by own family members. I can’t blame them for thinking that I’m semi insane for wanting to start this shoe business with absolutely no proper work experience, industry knowledge and just RM10,000 of my life savings to fund this crazy idea.

Each time I was underestimated & when someone told me that I can’t, I just worked harder and harder so I can one day turn around and show them that I can.

Always give it your best. Your heart and soul every single day of your life.

Don’t believe in failure because failure is just another stepping stone to greatness.

The Christy Ng story is inspired by liberation and breaking free. It’s about empowering all women out there to chase your dreams, regardless of how far fetch or distant they may seem right now. It’s a story about passion, resilience, grit and determination to peruse something that means so much deep inside your heart.

It is about not letting boundaries define your potential. Not letting your constraints become barriers to the greatness that you deserve. There are no walls around your courageous spirit and that the only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.

Being able to build this amazing company with amazing products which empower the lives of our customers everyday is truly a dream come shoe.

I hope the shoes and bags we create will serve as a reminder of courage and continuously empower you everyday of your life just as how it has impowered me on my personal journey against the odds. A journey which I embarked on almost 17 years ago selling shoes off my car boot and flea markets which has led me on this adventure of a lifetime - the privilege of creating more remarkable shoes and bags that you & I will be proud using.

In our society, the women who break down barriers are those who ignore limits.
